Wood Burning Fireplace
Wood energy is a renewable resource. With its dancing flames, crackling logs and soothing aroma a wood burning fireplace can warm any heart. There are a few different choices for a new wood burning fireplace.
High Efficient Wood Burning Fireplaces
are fireplaces that are about 75% efficient. This type of fireplace has a gasketed ceramic glass door that closes for an air tight seal. This prevents any room air from escaping and allows 80% of the heat from the fire to come through the glass. These units may have a blower and are packed with enough power to heat most of your home.
Traditional, Open Style Fireplaces
can either be made from masonry or steel.
Steel, pre fabricated fireplaces are a popular idea in new construction. The ease of installation and the inexpensive price makes this type of fireplace a good choice. These fireplaces are light weight and known as "zero clearance" units. They have an open design that mimics a traditional firebox. Due to the open design, these fireplaces will not be an efficient heat source.
Direct Vent Gas Fireplace
Installing a gas fireplace is a great way to increase your heating efficiency and enhance the style of your home. A direct vent gas fireplace is a sealed unit. Due to the venting, these fireplaces can be installed almost anywhere. Direct Vent fireplaces are available in many sizes and styles. They can be up to 84% efficient and used as a room heater. It is possible to run extra venting to bring heat to other areas of the home with some units.

Fireplace Inserts
Your fireplace is a source of beauty in your home; however, it is a relatively inefficient device for actually heating your home. Even worse, if there is no fire burning and the damper is left open, a fireplace may actually have a "negative efficiency" because warm air from the house escapes through the chimney.
The best way to improve fireplace efficiency is to install a fireplace insert into your existing fireplace.
What is Fireplace Insert?
Fireplace Inserts are sealed steel or cast iron fireboxes that are
fitted directly into an original fireplace. The Insert itself is a sealed
unit. The best units use ceramic glass with an airtight gasketed door.
Inserts may come with a blower to disperse heat into the room. Fireplace
Inserts can be 65%- 84% efficient, while the fireplace without an insert is
under 25% efficient.
Inserts are available to burn Wood, Gas, Pellet or other Bio-Mass fuels. They also come in many different sizes to best fit your fireplace.
A stainless steel liner needs to be attached to the top of the insert and extend through the chimney, if you were to burn wood. Our Stainless steel liners come with a lifetime guaranty.
A Tax credit is available for a limited time on all Bio-Mass burning
inserts.
